Renewable Wind Logistics | Abnormal Load Services
The Renewables team at Abnormal Load Services (ALS) have had a very successful year supplying Onshore Port Services & Operations in various countries which have included Denmark, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland & Sweden. They have expanded into Scandinavia and have attended various events including a joint stand presence with Norsea at the recent Wind Energy Offshore Europe exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The teams have organised charters; one of which was for the Hornsea Offshore Project in the UK. They have managed port operations, storage facilities and transfers of Wind Turbine components to their end destination / wind farm.
Recently, the ALS’ multilingual and highly experienced team in Sweden has successfully operated the project management of 74,053 tonnes of wind farm equipment from the port of Harnosand to site in 9 months.
This particular project involved 26 vessels with 1515 components unloaded, stored and then reloaded to transport equaling 149 complete turbines unloaded and moved to 5 different windfarms.
Coordination and detailed planning was key to this project with 6 transport companies working together to achieve 1500 deliveries to the sites.
A smaller project involved a full charter of around 4500-5000 freight tonnes, the shipment of 36 pieces of wind equipment (729 tons) from Bremerhaven Labradorhafen (ADWEN) up to Esberg Denmark (Siemens) for an offshore wind project.
ALS Project Managers were in attendance at the sites to supervise all equipment manoeuvres ensuring successful operations.
ALS will be celebrating its 40th Birthday in 2020 and the “ALS Birthday Challenge” has been set up for colleagues to join in focusing on wellbeing, health and fitness. ….the outlook for 2020 is looking very positive!
