Point Engineering Group announces 1.2m Gateway expansion
A £1.2m Point Engineering expansion will combine two of its Gateway companies’ production facilities and a satellite office to operate from one 2.8-acre site on the Sutton Fields Industrial Estate, North Hull.
The Point group of companies includes Point Engineering, Point Fabrications, Gateway Chassis and Gateway Fabrications.
The Gateway companies will move to the new premises, bought on November 16, during this Christmas shutdown and open for production in January 2013.
Site modification works and alterations to the new facility have commenced and this work will prepare the 40,000sq ft building for the welding, fabrication and assembly processes used to manufacture the range of chassis products currently supplied and also provide much needed goods marshalling space. Gateway Fabrications will operate from the same site to offer design, welding & fabrication services for various new market sectors, including renewables.
This latest development continues other recent growth in the Gateway business.
During the early months of 2009 the Gateway companies were moved from Gilberdyke to an adjacent factory site in east Hull mainly supplying the static caravan market. Outgrowing the space in 2010 led to the addition of a second production site nearby. Further growth and opportunities in 2011 indicated the need for a single site to accommodate increasing manufacturing and logistical demands.
The Point Engineering Group of companies combines specialist engineering knowledge, skills, resources and equipment offering a one-stop point of contact.
Since January 2001, Point, which is a member of Team Humber Marine Alliance, has provided the Yorkshire and Humber region with engineering support services, manufactured components, assembled systems, designed solutions, serviced equipment and installed machinery to assist wherever their expertise is required.
Point’s head office remains on Lee Smith Street, east Hull and, combined with the new facility, the engineering group will provide support to a wider client base across the region and beyond.
Funding for the expansion project is supported by HSBC and Finance Yorkshire.
