THREE of the Grimsby-area’s leading renewable energy figures have been named on an industry list of who to watch in 2016.
NovaVis, a support organisation aimed at advancing the US offshore industry, has listed Jon Beresford, Chris Holden and Mark O’Reilly among 25 high profile figures in the green sector.
It comes after UK lobby group Green Alliance revealed Grimsby to be the biggest generator of renewable energy per head of population, without including the growing cluster of marine installations.
Mr Beresford leads the operations and maintenance team at E.on’s Humber Gateway offshore wind farm, the closest to Port of Grimsby.
Mr Holden is immediate past chairman of Grimsby Renewables Partnership. Before taking the role as training organisation AIS’s manager at HCF Catch, he was offshore operations manager for RES, an early pioneer in the sector, having worked with The Crown Estate to identify the preferable locations for wind farm development.
Mr O’Reilly is chairman and chief executive of Team Humber Marine Alliance, an organisation that works with the whole of industry, from boat builders to developers.
It is behind Offshore Wind Connections, a conference that has attracted keynote speakers from Siemens, Dong Energy, Government and key lobby organisations in recent years.
Executive director of NovaVis, Charles Decuir, said: “We are delighted to have had such a positive response to the Novavis list for 2016. We have had the luxury of working with many global world class organisations and individuals in the area of offshore alternative renewable energy. This global co-operation and collaboration sets the foundation for offshore alternative renewable energy in the United States. We are very keen to recognise the leaders in this arena as the people to watch in 2016.”
NovaVis brought forward the list as it seeks to build a transatlantic bridge for the industry supply chain, with no restrictions on geographic, industry, academic or technological background to nominations.
In total there were seven British nationals listed, with four Germans and two Danes making up the European contingent.
The recognition comes after NovaVis and Team Humber Marine Alliance were part of a transatlantic trade delegation before Christmas.
