February Letter from the CEO of THMA
It’s all go at THMA HQ and we’ve had a non stop start to 2017 with a plethora of meetings, networking events, inward visits and workshops. Things are really starting to take shape around the Humber with a fully functioning Green Port in operation and its new quays welcoming the Estuary’s first Offshore Wind installation vessel the A2SEA Sea Challenger. I was privileged to take a tour of the Siemens Green Port facilities with our partners from New Bedford Massachusetts USA last month and it was truly amazing to walk among the giant wind towers awaiting to be deployed at the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm.
Meanwhile at the Port of Grimsby areas of the Royal Dock are being transformed as DONG Energy starts its long term investment programme in facilities to support its Hornsea Offshore Wind Farm and other future assets. Up the road in Immingham the impressive Modal Training facility is looking fantastic and at the leading industrial training campus CATCH further exciting investments are under construction.
Skills development is key to the growth of our industry and our “Maritime & Offshore Skills Group” is starting to have an impact and hopefully we’ll start to see the fruit of those labours in the the not too distant future. Meanwhile THMA’s renewed input into the Humber University Technical College is starting too make a difference and we have helped secure key industry players DONG Energy and Triton Knoll as partners.
Now representing THMA as a Director of this outstanding College I am asking you our valued members for your support by becoming a partner or supporter. We have a networking event on the 2nd March at the UTC details are below and we’d be delighted if you could join us to network and take a tour around.
Finally our annual OWC 2017 Conference & Exhibition at the Bridlington Spa is good to go and you’ll find details of how you might contribute and participate in your inbox very shortly.
Once again thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards
Mark
