Multi-metal stockholder Aalco is Team Humber Marine Alliance’s 200th member company, nearly 20 years after the business development organisation was formed.

Aalco joins a growing list of Team Humber companies alongside other recent newcomers Boston Energy, GGP Consult, Handelsbanken, James Fisher Marine Services and Wilkin Chapman LLP.

John Coates, sales and marketing manager of Aalco, Hull, said: “With the recent announcements by and on Able Marine Energy Park, CS Wind, Dogger Bank and the development of Green Port Hull, the Humber has an incredible opportunity in the offshore wind and renewables industry, more than most other places in the world.

“We have joined the group to strengthen our expansion into the renewables industry, where Team Humber has a great wealth of knowledge as well as a strong network of member companies.

“With this support, we believe we can achieve success in the renewables industry and look forward to networking with associated THMA members.”

Mark O’ Reilly, chairman Team Humber Marine Alliance, said: “Achieving 200 members is definitely a landmark for us. Team Humber was set up in 1996 and, as with many other businesses and organisations in the Humber region, it has been a long and sometimes difficult road to realise our aims and ambitions.

“Aalco, with other recent, new high calibre member companies, shows we are getting there. They have been operating in the Humber region for more than 30 years and have already created new jobs here as a direct result of the growing renewables industry and they hope to employ many more as the industry matures.”

Aalco, which has more than 4,000 employees worldwide and 18 service centres throughout the UK, provides non-ferrous metals in semi-finished and finished forms. It supplies a wide range of industries including power generation, pharmaceuticals, engineering, oil refining and food production.

Mr Coates also sounded an upbeat note about the region’s potential in general.

“Because of the developing renewables industry, significant investments like Siemens, and RB (Reckitt Benckiser) and Hull City of Culture 2017, it is clear that there is continuous positive economic development and momentum.

“With the Humer home to the largest enterprise zone in the UK and its developing renewables hub, we anticipate more inward investment to follow.”
