Boston Energy marks exciting new chapter with office move as wind power business targets further growth
Press release
September 20, 2024
Leading wind power specialist Boston Energy has moved to a showpiece new head office as the company sets its sights on accelerated growth.
Boston Energy’s new home, located at picturesque Hesslewood Office Park in Hessle, East Yorkshire, is a modern 3,300 sq ft open plan office, complete with an atrium, breakout spaces and wellbeing room.
The office, and spaces inside, will accommodate the company’s growing team and business operations, as Boston Energy works as a partner to the world’s leading wind energy OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and developers.
Colleagues celebrated moving into their new home with a day of carnival-themed funfair games, Mexican street food and music.
The move signals the start of an exciting new chapter for Boston Energy, having split off from parent company Bostonair Group following significant investment from private equity firm LDC last year.
To coincide with the expansion, Boston Energy has also unveiled a rebrand, featuring a new-look logo which reflects the company’s evolution and growth as a major player in the growing wind industry.
Boston Energy CEO Julian Cattermole said: “Our office move coincides with a period of significant growth. It provides us with much-needed space for both our current team and also to accommodate continued expansion, as we position ourselves as a partner of choice.
“Boston Energy has evolved and expanded significantly throughout its 12-year history. As the wind industry continues to move at pace to meet the UK’s ambitious net zero targets, we remain a key player at the heart of it.
“We’ve supported some of the world’s largest wind farm projects, including Dogger Bank off the North East coast, and are trusted partners of leading organisations including Vestas, GE and Siemens Gamesa.
“Our new office is a symbol of that success and the progress we’ve made so far and sets us up perfectly for the future.”
The business is on track to double its turnover in the space of just over three years. To sustain continued impressive growth, Boston Energy has relocated itself to the showpiece Hesslewood Office Park.
Nestled within 10 acres of beautifully landscaped parkland in Hessle, west of Hull, with peacocks roaming the estate, Hesslewood Office Park offers an inspiring work environment featuring an on-site deli, dedicated gym and a three-hole golf course for unwinding or client networking.
Boston Energy’s new space will cater to the needs of the company’s near-50 office-based employees, with capacity to accommodate up to 70 team members in the future.
A prominent feature of the new office is a multi-functional wellbeing room, which doubles as a space for prayer, reflecting Boston Energy’s commitment to employee wellness and inclusivity.
The office also implements a hot desking system to facilitate flexible working for remote employees, with the company having colleagues working as far away as mainland Europe and the US.
With over a decade of experience of providing technical labour, services and training to the global wind energy industry, Boston Energy continues to be at the forefront of supporting the full lifecycle of onshore and offshore wind farms.
In 2012, Boston Energy signed a contract with Siemens Gamesa UK to provide wind turbine technicians for the company’s UK offshore projects. To this day, the company remains a tier one, key supplier for Siemens Gamesa.
In the 12 years that have followed, Boston Energy has expanded its client base to work with leading names including Ørsted, Vensys, GE, SSE and Vestas.
In 2019, Boston Energy opened a dedicated training centre at its previous head office in Norwood House, Beverley, delivering GWO-approved courses such as fire awareness, first aid, advanced rescue, working at height and manual handling.
The training centre will be retained by Boston Energy at Norwood House as part of the office move to Hessle.
By 2021, the company had more than 200 technicians employed, with offshore projects spanning the UK, Europe, Asia and North America. That number has now doubled to more than 400 technicians.
Services provided range from pre-assembly, construction and commissioning support, to service and maintenance work, high voltage electrical services and blade inspection and repair.
Boston Energy’s former sister companies, Bostonair and Boston Renewables, will continue their operations from Norwood House in Beverley.
