AMEP GETS THE GREEN LIGHT FROM PARLIAMENT

On Wednesday evening (22 October) a decision was made by the Joint Parliamentary Committee that Able Marine Energy Park’s Development Consent Order – as approved by the Secretary of State for Transport last December – should be enabled to come into force.

The decision to clear the way for the multi-million pound Able Marine Energy Park on the South Bank of the Humber has been described by Able’s Executive Chairman, Peter Stephenson as ‘brilliant news for our company, for the region, the UK— and the job opportunities that it will create.’

This decision is a vindication of our faith in AMEP and the massive support we have received from so many organisations and individuals who recognise its importance. We thank the Humber Local Authorities, The Humber LEP, Central Government departments, Politicians, Trade Associations and the myriad of private sector businesses that have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us throughout our long-running battle to secure consent for AMEP. They will, I am sure, share our determination to now push ahead with the development as quickly as possible. We have, of course begun the preparatory work on site and will now will commence further preparation for the overall delivery of AMEP.

The clear decision of the Joint Committee sends the strongest possible message to the major international players in the offshore wind industry that AMEP is now a reality and will be able to offer UK facilities equal to anywhere else in the world. It is now a very exciting time for the Humber and we now all have a greater common purpose – let’s do it together.
