A2SEA to install turbines on East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm
A2SEA will use its turbine installation vessel Sea Challenger on the East Anglia ONE project

The summer of 2019 onwards will see A2SEA  play a key role in building the East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm off the east coast of the UK. A2SEA’s purpose-built offshore installation vessel Sea Challenger will be deployed to install 102 Siemens 7 megawatt (MW) turbines from the load-out port in Great Yarmouth. The windfarm is located approximately 45km off the Suffolk coast in the southern North Sea and is a Round 3 project with a total capacity of 714MW.

“We have formerly worked with ScottishPower Renewables and Siemens Wind Power on West of Duddon Sands offshore windfarm, and I am confident that by providing our competent and experienced crew both onshore and offshore will ensure a project delivered both on time, on budget and most importantly in a safe manner,” said A2SEA chief executive Jens Frederik Hansen.

“To benefit UK suppliers, and in our continuous search to optimise the share of local content in our projects, A2SEA will continue to work with a range of UK suppliers for the mobilisation of Sea Challenger,” he said.

East Anglia ONE is owned by ScottishPower Renewables and is due to be commissioned in early 2020.

In the UK A2Sea now have the following projects:

Dudgeon

Racebank

Burbo Bank

Hornsea 1

East Anglia 1
